Very reliable after you get it running
Expensive for users out of local calling range
- particular problems with users in the City, across the Bay and in San Jose area
- not enough people in each location to justify establishing a mini-POP
- all attempts to use ISPs for distant users have failed
- bandwidth over-subscription
- bad paths (ISPs blame the upstream providers)
- concern about security
